Usman Ishaq to lead Marketing department at ZONG

According to several online news sources, Usman Ishaq will now lead the Marketing Department of Zongâ€" China Mobile Pakistan. Usman Ishaq was already working for the company as the Director of the Sales and Distribution Department. During his tenure as Director Sales & Distribution, Usman Ishaq and his team played a vital role in the success of the company by achieving their sales targets’. His hard work and abilities paid off when the company made him Head of Marketing Department. Usman Ishaq has studied from PAK AIMS, Lahore, and previously worked for Mobilink, ICI Pakistan, and Warid Telecom. He specializes in sales, distribution, customer management, business development and project management. It may be recalled that the position became vacant when Salman Wassay resigned from Zong and joined Ufone as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) in October 2011.

 

Shahbaz Sharif orders IT Board to establish digital libraries and referencing website

Dr Umar Saif, Chairman IT Board, has been ordered by the Punjab Government to plan a project establishing digital libraries. These digital libraries are aimed at helping students from all campuses to access eBooks free of cost. Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif has announced on his Facebook page that the project will start immediately after the completion of the laptop distribution scheme. He also directed the Punjab IT Board to establish an easy-to-navigate website. The website would include categorized links to all the important digital libraries, online books and online lectures in every possible discipline. The establishment of digital libraries and reference websites together with the distribution of free laptops seems to be a great initiative by the Punjab Government to develop the education sector of the country’s most populated province. The Punjab Government had previously completed the initiation of IT Labs in over 4286 schools of Punjab in 2009.

 

Windows 8, Windows Store Confirmed for Feb 2012

Microsoft Corporation is all set to launch its Windows Store in February 2012. The company had earlier stated that it would be launching the much awaited Windows 8 in February 2012. However, now both Windows 8 and the Windows store will launch simultaneously. Over 500 million Windows users will be switching to the new platform. Microsoft hopes that the move will outplace its competitors. To attract developers to work on the new platform, Microsoft is also offering application developer’s 70/30 revenue split which will increase to an 80/20 split once the application sales have crossed the $25,000 mark. Windows 8 has the Metro UI, whereby the screen will appear in a tile based format that is compatible for all Windows 7 programs. Additionally, spec requirements will be low, security features advanced and boot-times faster while a ‘charm’ will replace the traditional Windows start menu bar.

PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf) has been very active in using the social media as a tool to promote the party’s tactics and activities. Recently, during the Tehreek-e-Insaf Jalsa in Lahore, Twitter was abuzz with non-stop commentary, expressions and political sentiments of PTI’s online supporters. Dayem Pasha, a PTI supporter and web designer, has helped PTI with another boost online, by developing an unofficial PTI application. Titled Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf, the application will help users find the political party’s posts, statuses videos and tweets on Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. Furthermore, PTI Chairman, Imran Khan’s quotes are also available for viewing in the “Imran Khan Quotes” section. An annual membership section shows bank and registration information only for UK Residents while the about section displays the party’s mission, ideology, manifesto and constitution. The app can be downloaded for free on Android.
