Pin WiFi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode And Data Toggles As Homescreen Tiles On Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

Having quick access to connectivity settings like WiFi, Bluetooth, Data and GPS isn’t available on mobile operating systems like iOS (unless you jailbreak) or Windows Phone 7, but we came across an interesting app today â€" for Windows Phone â€" that allows users to place different network toggles on their homescreen in the form of tiles.

    network dashboard

Developed by Purity Networks, Network Dashboard lets users take a quick glance at what connectivity settings are turned on while allowing users to pin tiles for each setting to the homescreen.

Setting it up is very, very easy. Once you have downloaded and installed it, all you have to do is launch the app, hold one of the four toggles and then pin them on your homescreen.

After you have pinned your desired toggles, changing WiFi/Data/Bluetooth and Airplane Mode on to off (and vice versa) becomes a one-tap business.

    From Windows Phone Marketplace:

Network Dashboard provides a quick, at a glance view into the network status on your Windows Phone. Tap on a tile and you can quickly change the settings. Tap and hold a tile and you can pin it to the Start menu for quick and easy access!

We have personally tested Network Dashboard on a HTC 7 Trophy running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and can confirm that it works as advertised. The app is completely free but works exclusively with smartphones running the latest release of Windows Phone 7 i.e. Mango. Mango is still sometime away from seeing a complete roll-out, so we suggest you follow our guides (linked to at the end of the post) to upgrade to Mango before you install Network Dashboard.

    WP7 Network Dashboard

If you’re interested, Network Dashboard can be downloaded from the link embedded below.

Download Network Dashboard [Windows Phone Marketplace Link]

It is a free app, so there really is no harm in giving it a try. Do let us know of your experience with it in the comments section on our Facebook page.

iPhone 5 Will In Fact Have The Same Design As iPhone 4

Since the rumors of the iPhone 5 began, almost everyone has different views on the device. Many claim that the iPhone 5 will be fully redesigned or at least slightly redesigned, but many others claim that the device will in fact have the same design as the iPhone 4.

    iPhone 5 Production

In a report from MacRumors, they claim that the iPhone 5 (or codenamed “N94”) has almost the same hardware. It will apparently have 512MB of RAM, almost the same camera, same 3.5” display, glass front and back panels. All of this sounds very familiar; it almost identical to the current iPhone 4.

    - 512 MB of RAM: This is to be expected, as the next iPhone should be using the same A5 chip found in the iPad 2, which does in fact offer 512 MB of RAM.
    - Camera module height “almost same” as in iPhone 4: Camera thickness is the major limiting factor for overall device thickness, meaning that the next iPhone is not likely to be significantly thinner than the iPhone 4. Sony is said to have started shipping camera sensors to Apple’s manufacturers back in July, with OmniVision coming online to assist in September or October.
    - 3.5-inch display: A number of rumors have claimed that Apple will be using a larger display for the new iPhone, but Kuo’s sources indicate the screen will be the same size as that found in the iPhone 4.
    - Glass front and back: Although not 100% confident on this item, Kuo’s sources suggest that Apple will continue to utilize the same basic design of the iPhone 4, with glass on both the front and back of the device.
    - Manufacturing shares: Foxconn is scheduled to handle 85% of the production load for the new iPhone, with Pegatron taking the remaining 15%. As previously noted, Pegatron will be a bit slower to ramp up production, and will primarily be supplying Apple’s Asia-Pacific markets.

Their source also talked about the next generation iPod touch. According to him, like the iPhone “4S” the iPod touch 5th Generation will also look almost identical to its predecessor. One thing he did say was that, Apple will be producing iPod touches in two models; white and black.

Both the iPhone and iPod touch are expected to have a major redesign in 2012.

Apple is expected to reveal the iPhone 5 this month, and release it next month. Not much is known about the device, however most rumors do point out to a large screen and an A5-chip.

IBM to lead $4.4 billion chip investment in New York

    BANGALORE
(09/28/2011) - Five chip makers, including Intel, IBM, Samsung Electronics, GlobalFoundries and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. have committed investment of US$4.4 billion in research and development in the state of New York over the next five years, to develop new 450-millimeter chip wafer technology, the state’s governor Andrew M. Cuomo said on Tuesday.

New York secured the investment in competition with other locations worldwide, Cuomo said in a speech that was also webcast.

IBM has committed $3.6 billion of the total investment to work on next generations of computer chips, including those using 22-nanometers and 14-nanometers process technology, said John Kelly, senior vice president and director of IBM Research.

Since 2000, IBM has invested more than $10 billion in New York state, its largest investment anywhere in the world, Kelly said.

The transition from 300mm to 450mm wafers will require unprecedented industry-wide collaboration, and the New York project is critical for the new consortium, called Global 450, said Brian Krzanich, senior vice president and general manager of manufacturing and supply chain at Intel.

Intel is already designing and building its future factories to be 450mm capable, and is counting on the results of the research and development in New York in the second half of the decade to go into production in those factories.

Intel has also agreed to establish its 450mm East Coast Headquarters to support the overall project management in Albany.

The investment will retain and create 6,900 jobs in upstate New York, including 2,500 new technology roles, according to a statement issued by the governor’s press office.

No private company will receive any state funds as part of the agreement. To support the project, New York state will invest $400 million in the State University of New York (SUNY) College for Nanoscale and Science Engineering (CNSE) in Albany, including $100 million for energy efficiency and low-cost energy allowances.

The state investment in CNSE will be made over a five-year period. “The state doesn’t fund business. The state funds SUNY if and only if the jobs are actually being created,” Cuomo said

How To Change Background Of Mission Control And Dashboard In OS X Lion

If you use OS X Lion, you’re probably aware of Mission Control: a new feature that displays all your currently open windows, as well as Spaces. While this feature is functional, it’s not at all customizable, but thanks to a few file edits, you’ll be able to change Mission Control’s standard fabric background to something else more personal.

    missioncontrol

These steps require nothing but a full copy of OS X Lion and some basic Finder skills. As you can tell from the steps below, you’ll be up and running in a matter of minutes:

How To Change Background Of OS X Lion Mission Control:

Step 1: launch Finder and navigate over to System/Library/CoreServices and locate Dock.app.

Step 2: right-click that app and select "Show Package Contents". This will allow you to actually edit the files within the app.

Step 3: from within Dock.app, navigate over to Contents/Resources. Locate defaultdesktop.png and rename it to anything else you want.

Once we’ve removed that fabric pattern, Mission Control should now display OS X Lion’s standard desktop background: the Andromeda Galaxy many of us have stared at for hours. If you want to spice this up, you must replace this file as well. Don’t worry, it won’t take long:

Step 4: leave Dock.app as it is and navigate over to /System/Library/CoreServices. Back up DefaultDesktop.jpg and replace it with the file you’d like to set as the background for Mission Control.

Step 5: log out and log back in to see the changes! You can alternatively just launch the Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app), type in killall Dock and press the Enter key. This will restart your dock.

How To Change Background Of OS X Lion Dashboard:

In previous versions of Mac OS X, the Dashboard would be displayed as a semitransparent layer over the standard desktop, but now in OS X Lion, the widgets have a background of their own. This, too, is so simple that an 8-year-old could do it:

Step 1: locate Dock.app in System/Library/CoreServices. Right-click on it and select "Show Package Contents".

Step 2: navigate over to /Contents/Resources and locate pirelli.png. Just back it up and change it to anything else you’d like. If the file isn’t large enough, it will be displayed as a pattern.

Step 3: as with the previous steps, you’ll need to log out and log back in to see the changes you’ve just made, or just perform the Terminal command we mentioned above.

    Kill Dock

Apple held talks with Chinese environmental groups

BEIJING (09/26/2011) â€" Apple held talks with Chinese environmental groups earlier this month after the U.S. tech giant was criticized for using manufacturers accused of polluting the environment in China.

The Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE), a group based in Beijing, said it held the talks with Apple following a request made by the company. IPE called the initiation of talks a positive sign, given that it was the first time Apple had responded to the environmental groups’ concerns about the company’s suppliers.

In the past, IPE and other groups have released reports accusing Apple of failing to monitor the work conditions and manufacturing processes used by its various suppliers in China. The latest report, released in August, went as far to link the pollution emitted from two suppliers with a rise in cancer rates in residents living nearby.

IPE said it held talks twice with Apple, the second time with the company’s supply chain management. While Apple did not specifically address all of the concerns the environmental groups made, the company said it would continue to communicate and collaborate with them, according to Wang Jing Jing, vice director for IPE.

“In the future, we will listen to what they have to say and we will see how they will move forward,” Wang said. “Our goal is that they will really work to improve the supply chain management.”

Apple did not respond to a request for comment. The company has previously reiterated its commitment to driving its suppliers to meet environmental standards. Apple has said it regularly conducts audits of its suppliers and works with them to correct violations.

For the first time in Pakistan’s history a Telco has offered FT/IBFT services in collaboration with a commercial bank on menu based USSD secured session oriented channel giving liberty to the subscribers to carry out transactions using their existing handsets.

Samsung Steps Up To Ban Sales Of All iPhones and 3G iPads In The Netherlands

According to a report published today, Samsung Electronics is seeking the ban of Apple’s popular iPhone and iPad products in Netherland.

    93f54_20110422apple_samsung_scales

The report comes with Nu.nl which very clearly states that Samsung wants the import, trading and sales of iPhones 3GS and 4 as well as 3G-ready iPads banned in Netherland based on four patents belonging to Samsung related to 3G technology.

As all iPhones (except for the original) released to date make use of 3G technology, this ban would hold not only for the iPhone 3G, but also for the upcoming iPhone 5!

    From Nu.nl (Google Translated):

Samsung requires an import, trading and sales ban for all iPhones and iPads that 3G technology. Samsung claims that prohibition not only for Apple, but also five private companies that distribute and sell the products.

Any ban would also apply to a future iPhone 5. The indictment is as follows: "The ban applies particularly but not exclusively for the latest products from Apple iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, 1 iPhone and iPhone 2."

Apple has requested the court for an address this Monday where its legal team will argue that Samsung’s patents pertaining to 3G technology are general patents and that they are essential to the wireless industry. If the court agrees to this, the ban would be rejected and instead, Apple would then (probably) have to pay licensing fees to Samsung for every 3G-ready iPhone and iPad.

The news comes just two weeks after Apple successfully managed get Dutch courts to ban Samsung’s Galaxy Ace, S and S II smartphones. Besides this, Samsung had to pull all references to their Galaxy Tab 7.7 at Germany’s IFA consumer electronics conference ahead of injunctions from Apple.

Head of Global Marketing for Mobile Communications at Samsung Lee Younghee was yesterday quoted saying:

We’ll be pursuing our rights for this in a more aggressive way from now on. We’ve been quite respectful and also passive in a way. However, we shouldn’t be… anymore.

Younghee’s stern tone is understandable. Apple is on a suing spree lately, and we’re quite certain you can tell as well. The company has particularly been targeting manufacturers of Android smartphones such as Motorola, HTC and Samsung. This has resulted in these Android manufacturers suing Apple back and the corresponding companies are now in what is called the “patent war”. Microsoft too is making use of the situation and are taking licensing fees from HTC and Samsung for every phone they sell.

Recently, a post was published on the official Google blog which said that Apple and Microsoft are running an “organized campaign” against Android and that they are using patents to slow down the platform’s exponential growth.

Anyway, we wish all the best to both Samsung and Apple in their legal battle. May the company with the strongest patents portfolio win!

Apple opens new store in Shanghai

BEIJING (09/23/2011) â€" Apple is opening this week stores in Shanghai and Hong Kong, taking the total number of its stores in China to six.

The tech giant plans to open its first retail store in Hong Kong on Saturday, a day after it opened a store in Shanghai. The company already has two stores in Shanghai, and another two in Beijing.

Demand for Apple’s products in China has soared since the company launched its iPhone 4 product in the country last September. For the first three months of 2011, iPhone sales in China saw a year-on-year increase of almost 250 percent, according to previous statements from Apple’s now CEO Tim Cook.

Apple’s iPad has also dominated China’s tablet market, with a 74 percent share, according to Beijing-based research firm Analysys International.

Demand for the products has been so high that unauthorized resellers in China have created fake Apple stores by using the company’s logos to decorate their shops. Authorities in one city have responded by cracking down on the fake stores.

Apple has said previously it would open 25 stores in China over a two year period. But the pace of store openings so far has been much slower and focused on China’s largest cities. Apple’s newest store in Shanghai will be the company’s largest in the country.

To Prove The Theory: NASA To Launch GRAIL Mission To Moon

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is voiced to launch the much-awaited, ultimate moon mission, in a few days time. The mission tagged as Gravity Recovery And Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) will mark its launch from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Pad, located in Florida on September 8th.

According to the officials, the first launch window of GRAIL would take place on 8th September at 8:37 AM EST and the second launch occurrence 39 minutes later at 9:16 AM EST.

The GRAIL mission aims to achieve a series of goals in it voyage of almost nine months around the moon. The mission would consist of two spacecrafts GRAIL-A and GRAIL-B. Wonder why does all this remind of the movie, Armageddon. Coming back to the details, the spacecrafts would be launched with the help of the specially designed, Delta II Rockets. Both the spaceships would would record sensitive data including measurements as they move along a defined path.

The basic reason for this mission is to record the strength of the gravity field around Earth as well as taking recordings between them using radio signals. The measurements would be beamed down to the lab to compare the Moon’s gravitational field according to Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. After gathering these records, scientists would be able to claim them as the most accurate measurements to date.

Moreover, the GRAIL mission would also figure out the composition of the lunar crust. This study would help scientists construct a proper theory as to “how the moon came to be a debatable subject”. The findings would also help in determining on how the inner planets were formed during the formation of the Solar System.

Maria Zuber, GRAIL principal investigator from MIT told:

GRAIL will unlock lunar mysteries and help us understand how the moon, Earth and other rocky planets evolved as well

NASA would make the launch details live with webcasts on various blogs. To keep a follow on the mission, follow the link here.

Lock Screen 2 For OS X Brings The iOS Lockscreen Experience To The Mac! Download Now [VIDEO]

Unlocking your computer with a password? That is so five years ago. We’ve come across a new app for OS X today that lets users lock and unlock their desktop using hotkeys, slide to unlock (a la iOS) with keyboard/trackpad/pass-pattern and comes with a plethora of customization options that make it a must-try app.

    pyFdK

Developed by iDevelop, Lock Screen 2 completely changes the way users lock and unlock their OS X-powered desktop or notebook. It comes with a variety of options which let you decide how you want to lock/unlock your machine.

    From Mac App Store:

Introducing The New Way To Lock/Unlock Your Computer Screen On MacOS
    âœ" Lock by hotkeys
    âœ" Lock after idle
    âœ" Lock before sleep
âœ" Slide to unlock by keyboard
âœ" Slide to unlock by trackpad
âœ" Slide to unlock by passpattern
âœ" Custom slide to unlock text
    âœ" Custom lock/unlock sound
    âœ" Custom wallpapers
    âœ" Open at login option

There are three ways folks can lock their Mac using Lock Screen 2: by using a specific combination of keyboard characters (hotkeys), auto-lock after the computer is left idle for some time and/or auto-lock before the computer goes to sleep mode.

Unlocking options are equally versatile, allowing users to slide to unlock (just like iOS) by pressing a row of characters on the keyboard or by pressing a specific row of characters on the keyboard (pass pattern) or by swiping across the trackpad like a boss.

Besides this, users can customize the lock/unlock sound, the lockscreen wallpaper and the slide to unlock text.

    mzl.mdjppsvi.800x500-75

By now, you can probably tell that this is an unusually powerful lockscreen app. This unusual power comes with a price, as Lock Screen 2 costs $4.99. Thankfully, the app is, as of writing, on sale for just $1.99.

I personally wouldn’t pay for an app that supercharges locking/unlocking experience, but, if you’ve got a spare few dollars lying around, Lock Screen 2 wouldn’t be a bad deal. You can download it from the link embedded at the end.

The app is compatible with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.7 Lion.

Download Lock Screen 2 [Mac App Store Link]

iPhone 5 Will In Fact Have The Same Design As iPhone 4

3G Backup Plan Prepared to Meet Budget Deficits

3G Backup Plan Prepared to Meet Budget Deficits

By Aamir Attaa · Wednesday, Sep 21, 2011 6 Comments

    Read this post in Urdu

Like we all know that Government of Pakistan was desperately looking forward to auctioning 3G licenses to meet it’s budget deficits, however, informed sources claim that government may go with Plan B to meet budget deficits if 3G license auction doesn’t happen this year.

Earlier plan was to generate at least Rs. 75 billion through 3G auctioning, however, after resistance from industry and especially due to hurdles from Etisalat sources tell us that government may drop auction of 3G licenses till next suitable time or may directly move to 4G license auction but not earlier than next year.

During the while government plans to fill budget deficit through acquiring control of Universal Service Fund and R&D Fund money that is lying in banks. Though this plan is kept as a backup and primary efforts are still put together to sell 3G licenses.

If government regulates USF fund money and other funds to be moved to Federal Consolidated Fund then over Rs. 50 billion is likely to be moved from commercial banks to Federal treasury, informed us the sources.

This way government will be able to use the fund money for their operational needs and it can also keep disbursing funds to USF as per it’s requirements.

If government fails to sell 3G licenses this year then there are good chances that auction may not happen before 2013 mainly due to general elections next year. That’s exactly when agreement with Etisalat for not selling any new telecom license will expire.

It merits mentioning here that according to sale purchase agreement with Etisalat for 26 percent PTCL shares, government of Pakistan can’t sell any new telecom license till March 2013.

Google To Developers: Get Your Apps Ready For Android Ice Cream Sandwich!

We are getting closer and closer to the release of the next major version of Android, folks. Google updated their official Android Developers blog today with a guide on how to make Honeycomb apps compatible with Ice Cream Sandwich so said apps work properly on tablets and smartphones.

Announced at Google I/O 2011, Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is the next major version of Google’s powerful mobile OS Android. ICS will unify Android 2.3 Gingerbread for smartphones and Android 3.x Honeycomb for tablets into one OS that works on smartphones, tablets and everything in between. Not much is known about ICS at this point, except that it will have more efficient multi-tasking, have face recognition and new APIs which will make it easier for developers to develop apps.

    From Android Developers:

Early this year, Honeycomb (Android 3.0) launched for tablets. Although Honeycomb remains tablets-only, the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) release will support big screens, small screens, and everything in between. This is the way Android will stay from now on: the same version runs on all screen sizes.

Some Honeycomb apps assume that they’ll run only on a large screen, and have baked that into their designs. This assumption is currently true, but will become false with the arrival of ICS, because Android apps are forward-compatible â€" an app developed for Honeycomb is compatible with a device running ICS, which could be a tablet, a phone, or something else.

Developers are given two options: make their apps tablet only or make them compatible with smartphones.

Apps for Android 3.x Honeycomb can be made tablet only by declaring that they do not support small resolutions and screen sizes or the developers can go with other, more difficult but more rewarding option: to make their tablet apps compatible with smartphones so that, instead of having multiple APKs, there will be one unified APK (much like universal apps which have one .ipa that runs on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad) which, Google suggests, will make it easy to update and publish apps.

    actionbar-phone-tablet

According to multiple reports, Ice Cream Sandwich will be released sometime next month. Google has stated that ICS is their “most ambitious release to date”, so it being labeled as Android 4.0 makes a lot of sense to us. Still, some folks believe it might be released as Android 2.4 for smartphones and Android 4.0 for tablets; we personally think this would counterproductive, as the main aim of ICS is to unify rather than divide.

IT systems run in exposed shed to prove reliability point

FRAMINGHAM (09/20/2011) â€" In an experiment that began in January, servers, networking gear and storage systems have been running in an simple shed without failure.

This experiment is giving David Filas, a data center engineer at the healthcare provider Trinity Health, the ammunition he needs to argue that IT equipment is a lot tougher than most think.

Through winter, spring and summer, these decommissioned systems keep running despite big variations in temperate and humidity. And the uptime of the systems has been better than what Google and Amazon have delivered so far this year.

Filas wants to convince IT administrators at his company, which runs 47 hospitals and other health care facilities, that it’s OK to raise the temperature in data centers. But the IT staff has been reluctant to do so, he says.

The project was inspired by something Microsoft did a few years back. From November 2007 to June 2008, Microsoft employees ran five Hewlett-Packard servers in a tent and reported “zero failures or 100% uptime.”

Filas is running his equipment in a generator shed at the healthcare firm’s Novi, Michigan headquarters, a suburb of Detroit.

There is a block heater on the generator which can generate some warmth, but otherwise “it’s more or less exposed to the same temperature and humidity conditions as the outdoors,” said Filas, who presented his work at the Afcom data center conference last week in Orlando.

The temperature inside the shed ranges from 31 degrees Fahrenheit to nearly 105 degrees. The relative humidity has ranged from nearly 8% to about 83%. But the door of the shed has been accidentally left open a few times, once when the temperature reached 5 below zero.

Filas even tossed sawdust in the shed to make a point about the ability of these systems to handle dust. The dust issue pops up when arguments are made for using outside air to cool data centers, he said.

“I’m trying to dispel the myth that the data center has to be a clean room because it doesn’t; today’s electronics are extremely resilient,” said Filas.

The equipment that is running in this experiment was pulled out of production three to four years ago. There are about a dozen pieces of equipment in this test, including HP servers, Cisco switches, and an IBM disk array.

The plan had been to keep these systems running until January, but Filas said he may extend that and add some workloads to the systems to address a criticism that it isn’t a true test. He is considering networking the equipment and putting it under a heavy load.

Filas said he didn’t expect the systems would fail, but says he is nonetheless surprised on how well the mechanical components have held up, the hard drives in particular.

There hasn’t been a single hard drive failure, he said. The Cisco equipment is very resilient, said Filas. Some Cisco equipment has a manufacturer’s upper temperature limit of 104 degrees, but Filas knows from experience that these systems can handle much more.

“Through unfortunate cooling outages, we have even had everything in a data center shut down except the Cisco equipment. The temperature was 117 degrees, and the Cisco equipment was purring away,” Filas said.

Filas argues that there is no excuse why the inlet temperatures on equipment cannot be between 80 to 82 degrees, which has been his goal in the main data center. He considers that an ideal temperature range for a data center, and says it is a range that also includes a little bit of a safety margin.

The American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has also been raising temperature recommendations as a result of improvements in data center equipment, to an upper limit of 81 degrees, and is expected to increase the ranges again.

“I want my IT staff to be more comfortable with the higher temperatures,” Filas said. “They are accustomed to having it being 65 degrees in the data center and they get very nervous when I dial up the temperature, even to the mid-70s.”

“I’m trying to dispel the myth among my own staff that it has to be that cold, because it doesn’t,” Filas said.

Cloud Computing Seems Promising Future in Pakistan: SAP Country Manager

Cloud Computing Seems Promising Future in Pakistan: SAP Country Manager

    By M Yasir · Tuesday, Sep 20, 2011 1 Comment

Hassan jamal thumb Cloud Computing Seems Promising Future in Pakistan: SAP Country ManagerThe trend of adopting IT services through Cloud Computing is promising but yet to play in full swing but its understanding in Pakistan is relatively low in comparative to some other parts in the South East Asia region.

Cloud Computing is a sustainable, long-term IT paradigm, and the successor to previous mainframe, client/server, and network computing eras. Underpinned by both technology and economic disruptions, Cloud will fundamentally change the way technology providers engage with business customers and individual users via internet as a service.

These views were expressed by Hassan Jamal, Country Manager of SAP Pakistan in an exclusive interview to ProPakistani. He was explaining cloud computing and it’s implementation at SAP.

SAP Pakistan is continuously putting effort in developing the industry dynamics in cloud computing amongst all current and potential stake holders and is quite keen to continue it in future.

SAP Cloud has not been officially announced as yet but it is available via our OnDemand Profile as well as our IaaS (Infrastructure as a service); in scale SAP cloud was available over a year ago and we are hoping to plan it early next year, explained Mr. Jamal.

There are about 25 industries that SAP operates globally in Pakistan, such as Retail, Public sector and Utilities, CPG, Food & Beverages, Automotive, Healthcare, Financial Service and Core Banking.

All the sectors are important for SAP but most potential sectors are manufacturing, telecommunication, public sector, oil and gas etc.

We at SAP focus primarily on the Apps and platform (forthcoming with ByD); Business ByDesign you get single on demand software solution that can manage all of your key business solutions, a tailor solution to your industry.

“I believe it is applicable in all organization across Pakistan. It is an economical way of automating processes across different departments in an organization. In Pakistan we need to ensure that automation takes place to improve the production and other standards in the country so that we can compete internationally and also produce quality human resource,” Jamal added.

The growing opportunities to leverage the cloud, combined with the real innovation it will bring, we term cloud computing an important channel to deliver new value to SAP customers.

I personally believe that cloud computing is the biggest change in our industry in the past 20 years, probably since the adoption of the client/server architecture. It’s fundamentally changing the way we build applications, the way our customers use them, and how the entire world interacts, SAP chief further said.

The Internet has driven a gradual migration of functionality from applications designed for single departments or processes toward resources that are shared and interconnected between people, departments, and companies. So that cloud computing markets provide vendors and customers with clear definitions and labels for cloud capabilities because it can position their offerings in the overall cloud market and better articulate their business value propositions to customers.

As the overall population becomes more Internet-literate, consumers, and digital natives in particular, are using technology to manage and integrate their private and business lives. Increasingly, digital devices and services will combine to create the cloud, an integrated resource for organizing, preserving, sharing, and orchestrating information and media.

The rapid evolution of the SAP cloud on the consumer side raises business users’ expectations for immediate, universal access and unlimited scale of technology resources.

The combination of these three trends with the potential economic and functional superiority of external cloud infrastructures vis-à-vis internal enterprise IT will continue to drive company decisions to out-task the planning, building, and managing of technology assets and processes.

We are also developing a certification program with our partners, so that customers can be confident that a particular cloud computing infrastructure solution will work, and that SAP will support their products on this infrastructure.

CyanogenMod 7 For TouchPad Makes Further Progress: Touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Sound And Accelerometer Now Working! [VIDEO]

After stumbling a bit from the disbanding of Team TouchDroid, the TouchDroid project is back in action. Redmond Pie has learned that CyanogenMod 7 (based on Android 2.3.x Gingerbread) on the HP TouchPad now has working Wi-Fi, sound and accelerometer!

    HP TouchPad CyanogenMod 7

The news comes straight from the CyanogenMod team. Member greentheonly uploaded a video on YouTube showcasing all of the newly working features in a 5 minute demo.

We weren’t really planning on regular updates re: our Android Touchpad port, but it turns out that people wanted more.

As you can see, several new features have been added and are in-progress. These include wifi, accelerometer, and work-in-progress sound. (This demo uses only a single core and the "mediaserver" program is using 50% of that, which it shouldn’t.)

For those who have queried as to why we are not creating a Honeycomb port using binaries from the Android SDK â€" we are focused on building from the Gingerbread source to pave the way for Google’s upcoming code release of Ice Cream Sandwich.

In the video, you can see greentheonly enabling Wi-Fi from Settings and then downloading Angry Birds Rio. After catapulting a bird (and earning two stars in the process), the developer shows the YouTube web app playing a video. In order to show that the accelerometer is working, greentheonly shows the TouchPad automatically shifting to landscape/portrait orientation. Furthermore, the developer plays around an accelerometer based game to verify that the accelerometer is working accurately.

The video wraps up with a bit of a disappointing benchmark, but since the current CM7 on TouchPad is a work-in-progress, this sort of stuff is to be expected.

The TouchDroid project â€" which aims to port Android over to the discontinued HP TouchPad â€" seemed to have taken a hit after it announced that one of the two teams i.e. Team TouchDroid (the other one being CyanogenMod Team) was disbanding. Thankfully, it turns out that the CM team is making significant progress with the project.

Folks who are interested in helping with the project can follow our guide to learn how to install Android Gingerbread on TouchPad. The rest of us shall have to wait for an easier installation procedure as the current one is quite complicated.

iPhone 5 Will In Fact Have The Same Design As iPhone 4
