Google Readying Application name Swiffy to convert Flash to HTML5

Android tablets are know for their ability to run flash. As a matter of fact, that is everyone’s argument against the iPad and iPhone . However, Google is working on an app called Swiffy to convert Flash to HTML5.

The application is currently available in Google Labs as an experimental application and is described to import Flash and spit out HTML5 code. It is a webapp, so it will take a SWF and convert it so you can use it on your iOS device. Google themselves are not bragging about this new app, but why should they? That is their niche in the tablet market, the ability to run Flash. But now they have created an app to convert it for their competitor, giving them the ability to run Flash files.

Flash is currently on it’s way out, being replaced by HTML5. However, it is still very much a part of the internet life, and will be until developers have an opportunity to convert it with a more diverse HTML5 language.
