SOFTEC 2011: Where IT Meets The Industry With Extravagance

All set to venture into the 15th National and 6th International Event, SOFTEC, Software Exhibition and Competition, has come a long way since its launch by FAST-NU Lahore back in 1995. Its success through the years is justified best in numbers only. Attendance for the preceding year to SOFTEC 2009 crossed the 1000 mark, the largest ever for an industry-academia event. Scheduled to be held on the 9th and 10th of April this year, the SOFTEC Society at FAST-NU Lahore will be collaborating with City FM89 as the Exclusive Radio Media Partner, Wi-Tribe as the event partner, Google Pakistan as the Technology Partner and CIO Pakistan as the Technology Media Partner for SOFTEC 2011.

Success stories for any event are made because of their participants. The winners of the SOFTEC Competitions have included Ather Rasheed, CRM Consultant at IBM Global Services, Winner of International MicroControllers Interfacing and Programming Competition SOFTEC 2008; Junaid Haroon, PhD Candidate at The University of Texas, Winner of SOFTEC 200 Programming Competition amongst other big names.

And that is particularly the reason why SOFTEC, a self-started initiative by FAST-NU Lahore enjoys a supremacy over other industry-academia events. Rightly known to be the IT Extravaganza of the year, SOFTEC brings recognition to the budding technological breakthroughs that compete with others on a reputable platform on grounds of practicality and innovativeness. Over a decade-and-a-half, the student community at FAST-NU Lahore that is part of the SOFTEC Society has managed to stage SOFTEC as the venue for talent recruitment by the industry.

What’s In The Fold For This Year?

Representing the local IT Industry, SOFTEC 201l will be hosted by notable authority figures from the industry including Jehan Ara, President at P@SHA, Badar Khushnood, Country Consultant for Google Pakistan and Rabia Garib, Editor-In-Chief to CIO Pakistan alongside other high-profile speakers invited to the conferences.

In addition to the competitions on Software, Micro Controller Interfacing, Programming, Best Embedded Robot, G3n.X Gaming and IdeasXtreme and Innovation Management, the audience to the event will be facilitated with a Kids Corner, a Food Court and a Software House Enclosure. Showcasing the latest in technology on a national platform for the 15th year and on an international platform for the 6th year in a row, SOFTEC 2011 intends to be received as a thrilling and an engaging event promoting fruitful interaction and learning within the industry and the academia.
