Just one in ten Facebook users support ‘timeline’ feature

It has recently emerged that Facebook’s Timeline, which is expected to expose users’ entire history on the website, will become mandatory for all. However, just one in 10 Facebook users actually seem to support the idea of making the biographical ‘timeline’ feature compulsory. The feature will group together all publicly viewable messages, photographs and comments by date. The idea of the new feature was to “let people know the whole story of your life in a single page.” The changes are proving controversial though, and some critics claim it could erode users’ privacy. A survey conducted in this regard said only 8% of users said they liked the change while nearly 51% were worried by the format.

NA body’s meeting 3G Policy: Shaikh grilled for not allowing IT Sect to give presentation

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecom has show concern over Federal Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh’s reaction to 3G Technology. The NA committee asked the Finance Minister to provide justification for not allowing the Secretary IT to give a presentation over 3G. All members of the committee said that the 3G policy is an important issue and wished to know if their recommendations have been included in the policy. The committee is worried in this matter because they believe that Abdul Hafeez Shaikh made a poor decision of privatizing PTCL and may also be making a poor decision related to the 3G Policy. The chairman of the committee has asked the Secretary IT to provide a detailed presentation over 3G on or after February 8, 2012. The IT Secretary has assured that the copy of the presentation will be provided to the committee in advance.
