Government blocks 13,000 obscene websites

In 2011, Supreme Court’s website and PTA’s website were hacked by a person named Zombie_KSA, who had demanded to block explicit websites in Pakistan. As a result, by the end of October 2011, PTA directed the Internet Service Providers in Pakistan to block numerous websites containing obscene material. Furthermore, early this year, a man filed in a petition in Lahore High Court revealing that some of the ISPs have still not blocked such websites. Therefore, the government has now come to action by stating it as a serious issue and it is working to address it. Nawab Liaqat Ali Khan also told that they are operating from outside Pakistan and an action cannot be taken against them. The IT Secretary gave the example of China and India who have installed Automated Filtration System to block anti-government websites but explained that it will still be not able to block such websites.
