Senators Question 3G License Prices, Move to Stop Auction
Government of Pakistanâs plan to auction new telecom licenses came under scrutiny yesterday when opposition senators warned the government to not go ahead with the plan without taking them into confidence. The senators included Senator Pervez Rashid of PML-N, Haji Adeel, Ilyas Bilour of ANP, Col. Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi (retd) of MQM and Prof. Khurshid of JI amongst others. Terming the auction a âlicense to lootâ, the senators demanded the chair block its issuance. They have stated it is not viable to issue the advanced technology at such cheap rates and the time-period factor is not acceptable at any cost. They further said that with such relaxed rules, the auction would be more like a charity.

Zong IDEOS Now Available
After being revised to PKR 10,999 only, Zong has further decreased its Huawei Manufactured IDEOS handset which will now be available for just PKR 6,999. The Froyo Android powered smartphone, at the time of launch, was available for PKR 15,999. It is a touch screen phone with an IDEOS ambient light sensor that maintains readability of the screen at all times. It also includes Google applications; Gmail, Google Maps, etc. and supports POP3 and Exchange email accounts on the server with the option to create multiple email accounts also. Zong is also offering free internet for first 6 months with a limit of 8MB per month. The Zong IDEOS is easily available at all ZONG Customer Service Centers or Franchises.

Arif Shafique, New GM for Nokia Pakistan and Afghanistan

PTCL Trains Executives for High Effectiveness
PTCL recently organized a workshop named âThe Seven Habits of Highly Effective Peopleâ, under their dynamic senior management program, via which it trained 115 of its senior executives. The three day training program, organized by PTCLâs Training & Development department, was lead by world-renowned U.S. expert, Stephen R. Covey. The workshop focused on helping participants achieve the highest levels of effectiveness and teamwork in order to improve their overall performance. The participants enhanced their learning via group discussions, case studies, role-playing and reflective thinking. Senior Executive Vice President HR, Syed Mazhar Hussain expressed satisfaction over the training program since he believes talented employees are a companyâs most precious asset.
