Pakistan Has 65% Cellular Tele-Density

A report released by the PTA stated that Pakistan saw a 2.23 million increase in mobile phone subscription in October 2011. This basically means that the cellular tele-density in the country has consequently increased by over 65%. The addition of the 2.23 million more subscribers in the first quarter of the FY 11-12 has a lot to do with it, PTA stated recently. Latest statistics suggest four of Pakistan’s five cellular operators have managed to add, on average, 0.557 million subscribers to their networks. This in turn means a 0.4% tele-density increase from the months of July to October 2011. In this scenario, Zong has the greatest growth rate with Telenor coming a good second, and Mobilink in third place. Fortunately the growth curve is not just apparent in the larger cities and urban areas of the country, but in the smaller areas also. Analysts believe that the increase is because of increasing ease of SIM availability, penetration of mobile operators’ phone services, customer care services, and easily accessible scratch cards and easy load.
