Chronic Dev Team To Debut Absinthe 2.0 iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak At HITBSecConf Tomorrow?
by GadgetGizmodo
Those who are familiar with the world of jailbreaking will no doubt know that the next couple of days represents a great time for the community, with Pod2g and his band of merry men almost ready to push the button and release their iOS 5.1.1 untether jailbreak, which will liberate all devices capable of running the latest firmware, with the exclusion of the third-generation Apple TV. Whether you believe in coincidence or not, the main players in the production of the jailbreak all happen to be under one roof at the Hack In The Box security conference (HITBSecConf) in Amsterdam.
The official Hack In The Box Twitter account set tongues wagging earlier on the day when they announced that special 1-day passes for the event will be available tomorrow when the Chronic Dev Team take to the stage to demonstrate their jailbreak to a live audience. It had been rumored for quite some time before the conference that prominent members of the famous Chronic Dev Team would be showcasing Absinthe 2.0, but this tweet seems to confirm those rumors.
For those jailbreak fans who happen to be lucky enough to be attending the conference in the beautiful Dutch capital, the lineup is sure to impress as the abilities of the second-generation Absinthe tool will likely be demonstrated by P0sixninja, Pod2g, Planetbeing and Nikias, as well as being accompanied by team server admin iOPK. In terms of jailbreak legends, the lineup doesnât really get much more impressive than that, with iPhone Dev Team leader MuscleNerd also in attendance, to give his own presentation of the evolution of iPhone basebands.
Apart from the fact that the members of the Chronic Dev Team will be taking to the stage at approximately 04:30AM PDT, we donât really know a great deal else at the moment. At minimum, we should certainly expect to see Absinthe 2.0 fully demonstrated on the latest iPad, as well as an explanation and insight into the exploits used to produce this latest untether. It remains to be seen as to whether the actual public release of the jailbreak will come at some point tomorrow or whether the team will wait until they are in a familiar territory in case any issues occur that need to be resolved.
For those that may want to witness this event first hand and happen to be in or around the Amsterdam vicinity, the Hack In The Box Security Conference are offering special one day Chronic Dev entry passes as indicated by their tweet this morning.
