Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 heading to US
by GadgetGizmodo
Samsung has proven its mettle in the smartphone arena and thatâs the reason why its sets are so much in demand. It has already set very high standards for its competitors. Its latest avatar Samsung Mega from the flagship galaxy series is ready to take on the market contemporaries and today we bring an exclusive review of this brilliant innovation by Samsung.
Initially which was rumoured to be just a single handset, surfaced two different variants at inception. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Mega 5.8. As their names suggest the only visible difference between them is the screen size.
Both the devices flaunt the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with dual core processors. The latest version of the Android has been coupled with Touch wizâs bright and a vibrantly peppy User Interface. There seems to be some nifty changes or additions to the interfaces of the sets, due to which it claims to provide a grand and wonderful experience for the end users. Its home screen looks really clean and tidy. The cosmetic changes have remained the same as there have been no changes adopted in these prospects. Mega 6.3 also enables tabbed browsing which lets you scroll through the screen without much problems or ado. Innovation and sophistication is the natural forte of this handset.
Samsung has taken innovative measures for the next step in the logical manner and have enhanced them with technicality and functionality. The handset seamlessly lets you handle the functions with the help of two fingers in various drag and drop options. Alongside it features multiple window options which were first visible in the Galaxy Note 2.
Mega 6.3 features the S Translator, snappy camera applications and health applications from S4 etc. Itâs going to come with the connectivity of LTE. But in case your region doesnât provide you with 4G infrastructure then it will be supporting the connectivity of HSPA. The phone does supports Cat 3 LTE and also to theoretical records; you will enjoy high speed download speeds of around 100 MBPs, and 50 Mbps for uploading.
It has a giant display option available. 6.3 inch display is one of the largest screens which have been visible on the mainstream Smartphone. Its display has the resolution of around 720p which sports pixel of around 233 ppi.
The phone supports a micro SD card slot through which you can expand the storage capacity to around 64GB. Users can pick the option of either the 8 GB or 16 GB, toting Galaxy Mega included in it. Due to its expandable memory it will be allowing the user to download FULL HD movies on the hand set supported by a vibrant screen. This enhances the phoneâs entertainment quotient to a great extent.
It packs a punch with the 3200 mAh battery, which was earlier considered a âprototypeâ only. But currently going to face reality. The back portion of the set is easily removable. You will be able to remove the battery without much fuss. The galaxy is going to please those users who were really waiting for a note-like device but without the additional luggage of S-pen or the ridiculously high price .With a marvellous design it surely looks like a winner at face value. It could be priced somewhere between Rs 25000, to 27000 and is all set to hit the market very soon.
Cell phones which are used extensively ultimately become outdated and are considered useless by the consumers. Therefore, they have a high tendency to land up in waste bins and get stacked away for years in peopleâs drawers. Such phones which are thrown away find themselves ultimately into public landfills which results in pollution of the groundwater and is thus very harmful for our living environment. Pacebutler is one of the companies which specializes in cell phone recycling and has committed itself for this purpose since more than two decades. Consumers get paid for sending the company their old and discarded phones. Check out their website to know more in details about the useful work they do for utilizing discarded cell phones and also for benefiting charity organizations. You can also read Pacebutler Corporation Reviews to have an in-depth understanding of the organization.

Samsung Prods Appleâs iPhone 5 Owners With Two New Galaxy S4 Switcher Ads [VIDEOS]
by GadgetGizmodo
Samsung just canât help itself these days. Seemingly more important than extolling the virtues of its own handsets, the bashing of Apple and more importantly, the users of its smartphones, is target numero uno. At least, thatâs what you could be forgiven for thinking if youâve ever seen the companyâs new Galaxy S4 ads.
The first of those ads, as we told you recently, centers around a pool party and a group of supposedly uncool parents all using iPhones. The aim of the ad is to get users to switch from their Apple devices to, obviously enough, a Samsung one.
But Samsung couldnât just stop there. On it went, ad agency in tow, intent on kicking Apple as fast and as hard as it could. Cue two new ads, both of a similar ilk as their predecessor, and both as irritatingly awkward.
One of the ads sees a suitably confused dad having a Galaxy S4 thrust upon him, with a younger guy trying to smooth over the switch from an iPhone. On this occasion, itâs the S4â²s âEasy Modeâ that seals the deal thanks to its oversized icons and simplified usability. Another satisfied customer, apparently.
The other new ad sees a mother taking a photo of her son at a graduation, only for one of his so-called friends to photo bomb the occasion. Itâs OK though, âcos the camera of choice is a Galaxy S4 and its âEraser Shotâ mode lets little old mother erase that nasty young man from her sonâs photo. The iPhone canât do that, apparently, though weâre dubious that there isnât an app in the App Store that would at least do something very similar. Answers in the comments if weâre right!
Ironically, thatâs actually quite a cool feature, if one that weâre not convinced would get that much use. We just wish Samsung would concentrate on telling potential customers about what its phone can do, rather than try to tell them what Appleâs iPhone canât do. Call us old fashioned, but thatâs what advertising is all about.
Maybe weâre just out of touch.

Dropbox Updates Website, Mobile and Desktop Apps With New Features in Version 2.0
by GadgetGizmodo
Dropbox has released version 2.0 of its apps for Windows, OS X and Linux with new sharing features and notification improvements as well as an updated sleek design. The new feature set is shared with the website as well as Dropbox mobile apps for Android, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Kindle Fire users.
Users can now receive real time notifications on their desktops when anyone shares a file with them, as well as keep an eye on the changes happening with their files on Dropbox. Whether the user performs any update on their files or someone else does in a shared folder, a newsfeed of sorts is available when you click the Dropbox icon. Accepting or rejecting invites to shared folders is also possible from the same menu.
This makes sharing files and keeping track of changes much easier, specially in situations where collaboration is important. However, to share files, you are taken to the website once you click the button. We hope Dropbox is listening and implements some sort of desktop sharing UI so that users donât have to switch between website and app for such small tasks. The new menu layout also shows the sync status to keep you up to date. In case you want to access the old style menu, hold down the Ctrl button while clicking the icon to see it.
The events feature is also available on the Dropbox website but not on the mobile apps yet. You can get real time push notifications for file sharing invites on mobile apps, just like the desktop apps.
Along with recently announced features such as file previews on the web as well as camera uploads from mobile and desktop devices, Dropbox is integrating itself neatly into many aspects of our workflow. With the new updates, we would rank Dropbox as number with SkyDrive as a close second and Google Drive as a distant third.

Saving Lives⦠Efficiently
by GadgetGizmodo
Think paperless hospital in Pakistan and the Indus Hospital comes to mind. A pioneer in many areas, the hospital was one of the first in Pakistan to start E-Cardiology, Â focuses on monitoring and providing immediate help to any heart patient, electronically. The Cardiology team at The Indus Hospital, with the help of Health Information Management System, makes it possible for any image or video to be transferred from the hospital to the cardiologistâs cell phone within seconds. The staff is now able to transfer an ECG, X-ray image, lab report, coronary angiograms or echocardiograms to the consultantâs phone within no time. This practice has helped save lives reducing the time taken for an expert decision to a few minutes, even during the night. The project, accomplished by the Health Information Management System, Â calculates the cost incurred on every image transfer is less than Rs.6.
âIt has been successfully used for the past few months and is an accomplishment for The Indus Hospital for initiating emergency electronic cardiac service which facilitates decision making through rapid and effective communication. This has and would certainly make a major difference in providing emergency cardiac care to our patients,â commented Dr Sajid Dhakam, Director Cardiac Services at Indus Hospital.
âA major reason for cardiac mortality in Pakistan is due to delay in detection and treatment of patients with acute heart problems,â added Dr. Imran Iftikhar, Consultant Cardiologist at The Indus Hospital. âAn ECG was recently sent to me at night on my cellphone from the Emergency Room and  the relevant medication delivered to the patient within 20 minutes saved a heart attack from happening. We saved a lifeâ
Another remarkable project is the development of an Emergency Response System. An ERS is activated from any computer terminal in the hospital and within a few seconds, not only informs the emergency response team within the hospital but also the on-call cardiologists on their cellphones.
Currently Indus Hospital is in the process of recording individual patientâs heart sounds along with electronic medical record file, a one of its kind database under developed. Pakistanâs first paperless hospital continues to serve its patients and their communities, keeping Information Technology at the center of it all.
About The Indus Hospital
The Indus Hospital can be traced back to 2007, when a group of dedicated doctors and businessmen came forward and pledged their support to make a difference to the disadvantaged communities in Karachi. Their vision was to establish and maintain a free-of-cost hospital that provides high quality, premium health care to people who do not have the means to bear the high costs associated with quality medical treatment. Today, The Indus Hospital is the only one of its kind in Pakistan providing specialized medical care in an impressive, state-of-the-art health center to people in dire need of help, completely free of cost.

Mobile Phone Service Will Not be Suspended on Election Day
by GadgetGizmodo
Unlike many of us had feared, mobile phone services are not going to get suspended on Election Day, told Ishtiaq Ahmed, Secretary Election Commission, while speaking with media yesterday.
There were partial guesses about the suspension of mobile phone services â" at least in sensitive areas of the country â" on election day, i.e. May 11th, 2013. However, this statement by Secretary Election Commission turns out to be a relief for telecom operators and the mobile phone customers.
PPPP lead, previous government, had heavily used the cellular service suspensions to tackle the terrorism but it appears that the interim government has taken a different and somewhat effective route by not blocking mobile phone services.
It maybe recalled here that experts are predicting terror disruption on Election day.
It merits mentioning here that mobile phone services â" after departure of Mr. Rehman Malik â" are blocked only once and that too in Lahore for a brief period of time.
Almost all cellular companies reported huge losses in their last quarter (of 2012) due to forced service suspensions and other regulatory pressures from the government.
