iPhone 4S / iPhone 5 8 Megapixel Camera Module To Be Supplied By Largan Precision?

The camera module on iPhone 4S / iPhone 5 may be supplied by Largan Precision. The camera module, which has been rumored to be of 8 megapixel, holds a strong possibility of being given to Apple by Largan Precision.

Among the slew of other rumors concerning the next generation iPhone, we know that it is going to come bearing minor design improvements, larger screen and an A5 dual-core processor.

This rumor however, comes from Digitimes which has a rather uncertain track record when it comes to making predictions about Apple’s devices. The publication says:

Taiwan-based Largan Precision currently sees 8-megapixel phone-use lens modules account for nearly 10% of its total lens module shipment volume, but it may see 8-megapixel modules replace 5-megapixel ones to become the mainstream for smartphones in the third quarter of 2011 due to possible orders from Apple, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

The interesting thing to note here is that Largan Precision already supplies the 5 megapixel iPhone 4 camera module and iPad 2 lens to Apple. According to our analysis, it seems logical for Apple to continue with a supplier that has met the quality and functionality criterion the company has laid out for its devices.

Whereas some reports have gone as far as to hint at a 12.6 megapixel camera for iPhone 5, it remains to be seen what the next iPhone is actually going to bring with it.

Nevertheless, we’ll bring you all the updates on the next generation iPhone, as soon as they come in.
